May

"Grow Through What You Go Through."

May marks a season of rebirth—where nature blooms and people awaken to fresh starts. At R&R Head Labs, we’re leaning into the spirit of rebirth by celebrating the stories that shape us, the cultures that enrich us, and the people who support us. Represented by the Columbine, Colorado’s state flower, this month is a nod to resilience, beauty, and growth.

Grassland x R&R Head Labs

Last month, we shared that we got the chance to film with Quincy Isaiah, the lead actor of the movie Grassland, now out on Apple TV, stream it HERE. Grassland is a riveting social justice thriller highlighting the perils of marijuana incarceration. This month, we are sharing the conversations that Quincy had with our team members, Deb and Pat, and how their lived experiences intersect with the movie's theme.

May is about honoring stories that have too often been overlooked. We recognize Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Jewish American Heritage Month, celebrating the voices and identities that shape our roots. Everyone deserves to be seen, heard and celebrated for exactly who they are.

Our Chief Experience Officer, Keren Nimmo, Shares her thoughts on her Jewish ancestry:

As the granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor, I carry a deep understanding of what happens when we fail to see ourselves in others. In a time of rising division—over religion, culture, and immigration—my Jewish identity reminds me that we must not only remember our own history but stand up for those who may not look, believe, or come from where we do. Empathy and inclusion aren’t just ideals—they’re the foundation of strong, resilient communities.

Our diversity is our strength. Standing together honors the past and helps shape a better future for all of us.

…. and Don't forget Mothers Day!

Every female barber in the shop is a mom, so if you are in the shop Sunday, May 11th, be sure to wish them a great day.

We asked our CEO, James Repenning, to share a little bit about his mom and the lasting impact she's had on his life:

Growing up, my grandmother Betty Robinson was all poise and no nonsense. My mom (aka Chops) inherited that strength, got her MBA at Northwestern, raised four kids, and later founded our family’s recycling business, GreenCycle.

Instead of complaining about being in a male-dominated field or putting her career on pause, she used her differences as fuel. That’s an example we want to set for our barbers: turn what might hold you back into your biggest strength.

As always on the first of the month… Rabbit, Rabbit from the R&R Head Labs Team!
