Growing up, I often felt caught between different worlds. I spent years trying to fit into molds that never quite felt like me while searching for where I truly belonged. Through hair, makeup, color, and cosmetology, I discovered a form of self-expression that allowed me to embrace who I was without apology. What started as a creative outlet quickly became a passion for helping others find confidence in their own uniqueness.

I pursued my education, earned my certifications, and built a successful career in the beauty industry. But despite professional success, personal tragedy led me down a difficult path of addiction and self-destruction. For years, I struggled to find my way back to myself. In February of 2024, I made the decision to separate myself from the circumstances and patterns that had been holding me back. I committed to sobriety, accountability, and rebuilding my life with purpose.

Today, barbering is much more than a career for me. It is my art, my passion, and one of the greatest gifts I've been given. Every person who sits in my chair represents an opportunity to create something meaningful. I believe the best barbering experiences happen when they become personal rather than transactional. Through conversation, trust, and connection, I strive to help people feel seen, heard, and confident in who they are.

One of the most meaningful moments of my career was having the opportunity to cut my grandmother's hair. As I reflected on all the experiences that shaped me, everything came full circle in that moment. She wasn't just my grandmother—she was the reason I found this path in the first place. Being able to use the skills she inspired me to develop and honor her legacy through my work is a memory I will carry with me forever.

My experiences with addiction, loss, discrimination, and hardship have taught me that our struggles don't have to define us. I've learned not to give power to my mistakes or allow my pain to dictate my future. Instead, I've chosen to use my story as a way to connect with others, break down stigma, and remind people that healing and transformation are possible.

Outside of the barbershop, I'm passionate about giving back to my community. I've volunteered my time providing haircuts for children returning to school, unhoused individuals preparing for job opportunities, and residents of recovery programs. Looking ahead, I hope to combine my experience in recovery with peer coaching and mentorship, helping people who are navigating addiction, depression, and life's challenges while using the confidence-building power of cosmetology as a tool for healing.

At the end of the day, I never want to stop growing, learning, and evolving. I believe every person I meet has something to teach me, and every conversation offers a new perspective. My goal is simple: to be part of the solution, to build people up instead of tearing them down, and to inspire others to believe that no matter what they've been through, they can rise, heal, and create a life they're proud of.
