Skilled Barber Apprentice
I didn’t grow up with stability — I grew up learning how to survive. Barbering became the turning point that grounded me spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and financially. Today, when you sit in my chair, you’re sitting with someone who understands struggle, values real connection, and believes growth is possible for anyone — because I’ve lived it.
My Story
I didn’t have a normal childhood. I grew up in a difficult environment where both of my parents struggled with addiction, and I was exposed to things no child should have to experience. Survival became my mindset early on. I made a lot of negative choices because I felt like I didn’t have many options. That path eventually led me to serving time in federal and state prisons here in Colorado.
Barbering started as a hustle for me — a way to provide for myself in different settings. But while I was incarcerated, it became something much deeper. I learned to use the skills I developed cutting hair to work in various facilities, and that’s where I discovered my true passion for the craft.
What drew me in at first was the hustle and the ability to provide financially. What kept me was realizing barbering is about so much more than cutting hair. When someone sits in your chair, it opens the door to connection. Sometimes people just need someone to listen. I’ve learned that simply being present can make a significant difference in someone’s life. Barbering is therapeutic — for my clients and for me.
Challenges and trials have shaped me. I’ve learned that if you embrace them instead of resisting them, they become fuel for growth. Cutting hair puts me in a zone where I’m fully focused on the task in front of me. It grounds me — spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and financially. It’s given me stability and purpose.
Through barbering, I’ve built countless connections and meaningful relationships. I strive to be observant and creative with every person I interact with — making them feel welcome, seen, and valued. I believe in giving back by leading by example, whether that’s cutting hair for someone in need or sharing my story to show that real change is possible.
Today, my goal is to continue growing — earning my barber’s license, sharpening my skills, and becoming the man I was created to be. I want to be an asset to my company, my community, and my family.
There is hope for change in anyone who refuses to give up. If you pursue growth and development with intention, transformation is possible.
I’m living proof.
