Anthony
Cosmetologist
I’m Anthony. I’m a barber with over 15 years of experience, and like many people, my path hasn’t been a straight line. I’ve faced addiction and mental health challenges, but barbering became my anchor—giving me purpose, structure, and a way to rebuild my life. Today, I bring that resilience, along with my craft and creativity, into every cut and every connection I make in the shop.
My Story
My journey into barbering started long before I ever picked up a pair of clippers. I was born and raised in Southern California, and my grandfather was a barber. Watching him work—and seeing the respect, trust, and relationships he built—sparked something in me early on. One of the most meaningful moments of my career came years later when I was able to call my grandfather in as reinforcements and spend a full day cutting hair alongside him. It was a full-circle moment that reminded me exactly why I chose this path.
I’ve been licensed for over 15 years and trained at Paul Mitchell The School, but much of my growth came from being self-employed and fully immersed in the craft. Barbering gave me the freedom to be myself, to be artistic, and to build something of my own. Over the years, I’ve owned my own barbershop, built a loyal clientele, and been honored to be named Independent Magazine’s Best Barber in Colorado Springs two years in a row. I also spent time as a traveling educator for Reuzel Pomade, teaching, learning, and connecting with barbers across the country.
Barbering has been more than a career for me—it’s been a lifeline. I’ve faced addiction and mental health challenges, and during some of the hardest moments in my life, barbering gave me structure, purpose, and a reason to keep moving forward. The shop became a place of grounding and healing, where I could focus on my craft and rebuild myself one cut at a time. Those experiences shaped who I am today and deeply influence how I show up for others.
At R&R Head Labs, I bring not only my experience behind the chair, but my passion for mentoring and coaching other barbers. I believe in holding high standards while creating a supportive, inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome—clients and barbers alike. I’m committed to continuous learning and staying current in an ever-evolving industry, and I love helping others refine their skills, confidence, and voice as barbers.
Giving back through barbering is incredibly important to me, especially within the communities I come from. I use my platform and my story to support and inspire people who may be facing challenges similar to those I’ve overcome. If my journey can help someone feel less alone or give them hope, then I’m doing something right.
Looking ahead, my goal is to open my own barber school and continue traveling as an educator—teaching the craft while using my story to help others in the industry who are struggling with the same demons I once faced. Personally, I’m focused on growth, balance, and staying true to who I am. For me, barbering is about more than hair—it’s about legacy, healing, and using this craft to create connection, purpose, and positive change.
